Nightime Photography

There are numerous photo opportunities for you at night. City light photos when traveling bring home different views and scenes of a city. Cities and landmarks are often creatively lit. You can use your creative flair to capture fantastic images any time of the day.

All you need is a tripod.

In most cases, simply turning off the flash, putting the camera on a tripod and pressing the shutter release is all you need to do. Most cameras have a shutter speed range on auto that will do all you need to do. However there is nothing to stop you extending yourself and going into any of the aperture modes or fully manual to take some experimental art images...

If you have someone or something in the foreground that needs to be lit, that’s the perfect situation to use the Slow Sync flash setting (flash goes off at the end of the exposure time). Again, make sure you use your tripod to ensure the camera remains still.
